Anti-Ragging Committee

In conformity with Honourable Supreme Court judgements and directions and AICTE notification for Regulation for prevention and prohibition of ragging in AICTE approved Technical Institutions vide No. 37-3/Legal/AICTE/2009 dated 01/07/2009) and UGC Regulation, the KNIPSS, Engineering Institute has constituted the Anti-Ragging Committee to prevent any form of ragging on and off the campus. The Anti-Ragging Committee is the statutory body and ensures ‘Zero-Tolerance policy’ towards ragging. The objective, responsibilities & mechanism and composition of ant-ragging committee are -

Responsibility of the Committee:

• To ensure compliance of the Anti-Ragging guidelines issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and to effectively deal with incidents of ragging, if any such incidents take place in the Institute.
• To disseminate information issued by the Honorable Supreme Court of India, UGC, State Government and AICTE to student through various sources.
• Sensitize students through various programs on gender equity, human rights, moral and ethical values.
• To curb ragging in all its forms from the Institute by taking preventive measures.
• Students in distress due to ragging related incidents can call the National Anti-Ragging Helpline No. 1800-180-5522 (24×7 Tollfree) or e-mail: helpline@antiragging.in.

Powers and Functions of the Committee

• To monitor and over see the performance of the Anti-Ragging Squad in prevention of ragging in the institution.
• To ensure zero tolerance towards ragging.
• To ensure strict action against the students if any such cases occur like suspension from attending classes, cancellation of admission, file First Information Report (FIR) against student indulgement in such activities, etc.
• Rustication from the institution for period ranging from 1 to 4 semesters.
• Assign the duties in canteen, corridors, to prohibit ragging incidences.
• To take anti ragging undertaking from the parents/ students at the time of admission.
• Ensures that if student is found guilty of the offence of ragging and/or abetting ragging, he/ she are liable to be punished appropriately.
